‘Allo ‘Allo cast growing moustaches for Movember

Our ‘Allo ‘Allo cast are being sponsored to grow their characters’ moustaches to raise money for men’s health charity Movember.

Several characters had moustaches in the original TV series and we want our actors to look as much like them as possible. Usually we would just use make-up or false moustaches. However, our actors decided to raise money for charity as well as achieving an authentic look.

Steve Sale (Captain Bertorelli), Tony Lane (Rene Artois) and Mark Brown (Officer Crabtree) have been growing their facial hair for two weeks already. Regular moustache-wearer Kevin O’Neill (Monsieur LeClerc) is doing the ‘reverse Movember’ and will be shaving off his moustache. All are being sponsored by colleagues, friends and families.

Mark Brown said: “It’s a bit of fun to grow a moustache for your character, but it’s great to raise some money for charity at the same time. I’ve never taken part in Movember before, but I’m happy to take part and raise awareness of the campaign.”

Movember raises money and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer and men’s mental health issues. Men usually grow their moustaches during November, but GDS members have started early to ensure they will have a full upper lip coverage in time for the performances.
