Looking for a black actor for ‘One Man’

We want to increase the diversity of GDS’s membership and we’re looking for a black actor to appear in our next play, ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’.

We have always been open to new members from any background and we want to encourage people from all sectors of the community to get involved, especially those that are currently underrepresented. As a starting point, we’ve chosen to perform ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ as our next production which features a Jamaican character, Lloyd Boateng. We’re eager to find someone local to play the part.

As a community group we want to reflect our community, and
encourage more people to get involved whether on stage, backstage or in the audience. For the role of Lloyd we are looking for a black male actor, ideally with a playing age of 30 or above, but anyone is welcome to come and get involved. No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and commitment and they must be available each evening from the 9th to 14th May as well as most Tuesdays and Thursdays for rehearsals.

Anyone interested in the play should come along to the castings at our rehearsal rooms this week (Tuesday and Thursday, 7.30pm) or get in touch.

(Please note, Section 5(2)(a) of the Race Relations Act 1976 applies).
