Theatre
8 - 11 October 2008 at the Guildhall Arts Centre, Grantham
Myrtle has won a romantic fiction competition for women writers being run by feminist publishing house Love Is All Around.
The only problem is, Myrtle is really Leonard, divorced statistician and single parent. Despite his efforts at evasion, in order to claim the prize of a £15,000 publishing contract, Myrtle has to meet Harriet the publisher!
Increasingly desperate, Leonard pretends to be his non-existent Aunt Myrtle, but he fails to let his father and daughter in on the secret and his outrageous masquerade unleashes a hilarious chain of events.
Disguise, deception, subterfuge and love; Nobody's Perfect is an unstoppable theatrical treat. Written by Simon Williams.

How it works
Grantham's best
GDS are a local amateur dramatic society, staging two plays a year (usually in May and October) and doing lots of fun things in-between.
What we do
Stage plays
Film clips
Sketch shows
Street theatre
Murder mysteries
Radio and podcasts
We usually do comedy. Why? Because it's fun.
Anyone can have a go and we like trying new things.
Why? Why not! Laughter is the best medicine and 'having a go' is the best way to experience new things in life.
What are YOU doing tonight?
When we rehearse
Tuesday and Thursday
7.30 to 9.30pm
Where we meet
GDS meets in the Green Room - part of the Old Malthouse - on Springfield Road. The road up to the Old Malthouse is opposite the fish & chip shop on Springfield Road. We're at the back of the main building up the metal steps on the right.

We perform on stage in the Guildhall theatre, which is slap bang in the middle of Grantham

Socials
Throughout the year we've a busy calendar of social events - from theatre visits and garden parties to murder mystery evenings and film nights.
Play week
Sunday | get in
8am - 4pm move all the stuff into the theatre, build and paint the set and eat lots of food.
Monday | technical rehearsal
7.30 - 10pm sort out the lights, sounds, props, layout and try a run-through
Tuesday | dress rehearsal
7.30 - 10pm slap on the makeup and costumes, cos we've a show to do, on time, to a select invited audience
Wednesday | opening night
7.30 - 10pm open the curtains, tread the boards and wait for that magic first laugh!
Thursday | confidence night
7.30 - 10pm perform for the second time, which means you've done it all before and it's now an absolute doddle
Friday | prove-the-journal-wrong night
7.30 - 10pm perform to the best audience, who are up for a great night out and laugh the most, proving to people that they shoudn't believe everything they read in the paper!
10 - 11.30pm after-show meal at a local restaurant
Saturday | grand finalé
7.30 - 10pm make 'em laugh for the last time - this is usually the family audience, so there are plenty of biased cheers at the end
10 - 10.30pm destroy the set, pack everything into the van and remove all evidence that we were ever in the theatre...
11pm - 3am party in the Green Room!
Who can join?
Everyone. Simple.
